21.04.2009, 23:07 20

Gabriel Maranca has been appointed in April as commercial manager of the Sports division of Elmec Romania, importer of the Nike brand on the Romanian market, after working in the telecom industry for ten years. Maranca came to the helm of Elmec after over four years spent with American mobile phone manufacturer Motorola, as country sales manager for Romania and the Republic of Moldova. Prior to that, Maranca was key account manager with Sony Ericsson and previously Channel Marketing Manager of Ericsson Telecom Romania. His sales experience included work in the real estate sector and in the FMCG sector, with Wrigleys Romania and CPC Foods Romania. "The transactions I sealed over time, in real estate, FMCG and later on the telecommunications market revealed that sales experience is transferable and consolidates as one comes in contact with more markets and more categories of clients," said Gabriel Maranca. Elmec's previous commercial manager for the sports division was Cristian Beznoska, until his appointment as CEO of the company. Elmec representatives did not specify who filled this position from the time Beznoska was promoted until Maranca's appointment. Elmec Romania, which operates on the Romanian fashion retail market since 1999 as a distributor and a retailer of international brands such as Nike, Converse, Calvin Klein Jeans, Miss Sixty and Polo Jeans by Ralph Lauren now has 42 monobrand and multibrand stores, more than half of which are Nike stores.
