Murfatlar to open wine shops in shopping centre galleries

Wine producer Murfatlar, controlled by the Dobronăuţeanubrothers, estimates it will reach 40 wine shops by the end of theyear, with this being the most aggressive expansion plan announcedso far by a producer on the wine market.


Murfatlar, which currently operates seven wine shops inBucharest, Galaţi, Brăila, Cluj and Timişoara, will expand in thefuture with retail spaces in a few shopping centres such as RealBerceni, Carrefour Militari, Real and Auchan in Timişoara.
"Crama Murfatlar shops continue expansion by opening 17 new wineshops in November," said Daniel Negrescu, Murfatlar's brandmanager. Towns targeted by the wine producer include Vâlcea, Curteade Argeş, Slobozia, Tulcea and Piteşti. The wine shops aredeveloped as partnerships with local investors, based on a modelclose to franchises, with Murfatlar contributing the brand, theknow-how, the products, the marketing investment, the commercialpolicy, and the partner coming up with the space, be it rented orowned, and with the fitting out of the said space. It costs around10, 000 euros to open a wine shop, but costs may vary.
