18.10.2006, 19:26 21

The Mitsubishi Corporation, the trade company of one of the biggest industrial groups in Japan, has opened a representative office in Bucharest and expects the company's business in Romania to grow quickly. The Mitsubishi Corporation previously had an office in Romania, but closed it thirteen years ago. "The reopening of our representative office in Romania, after a 13-year absence, will contribute to the growth of our business here. In addition, the opening comes at a favourable time considering Romania's accession to the European Union," stated Tsunao Kijima, Mitsubishi Corporation's CEO for Europe. The Mitsubishi group does not have any other operations in Romania, where it is mainly known for its automotive division. The official importer of the Mitsubishi vehicles in Romania is M Car Trading, part of TiriacAuto. Representatives of the Mitsubishi Corporation say that the volume of the company's business is quite low at the moment, but will witness significant growth over the coming years. "Considering we haven't had a representative office here thus far, our business in Romania is small for now and confined to exports of chemical products and steel pipes for the petroleum industry and imports on the automotive segment. We intend to identify new business opportunities and expect fast growth over the coming years," stated Toshiki Sugino, general manager of Mitsubishi Corporation's representative office in Romania.
