Meggle gives up partnership with Lactag producer

03.07.2008, 18:47 12

German group Meggle, one of the leading dairy producers in Europe, will cease to produce fresh dairy products at Lactag's plant in Arges county as of this month, amid strategy changes for the two companies. Lactag representatives intend to resume their partnership with Meggle this autumn or in 2009, while the German group is also considering starting such a project with other players on the market. The company's plans also include making new acquisitions. "Lactag's policy, based on investments and Meggle's policy, oriented towards increasing imports, called for an end to the partnership between the two companies, for the time being," said Nicolae Oita, general manager and majority shareholder of Lactag via Atlantic Invest Group. The Arges-based dairy producer will start a two million-euro investment at the beginning of next year, aimed at expanding the production capacity, improving the packaging process and acquiring new lines.
