Legal services market to grow after accession

14.07.2006, 19:05 23

Economic activity, as well as the demand for legal services, will increase after Romania's accession to the European Union, which will lead to a fast pace of growth of the legal services market, say law firms. The value of the business law market was last year estimated at a maximum 100 million euros. In the absence of official statistics, individual appraisals made by law firms differ greatly from one to another, with estimates ranging from a minimum threshold of 40 million euros to a maximum of 100 million euros. Representatives of Tuca, Zbarcea & Associatii (Tuca Zbarcea & Partners) and Nestor Nestor Diculescu Kingston Petersen (NNDKP) put the value of the legal services market at approximately 70 million euros in 2005, while Markus Piuk, the coordinating partner of Schoenherr & Asociatii (Schoenherr & Partners) and Florian Nitu, managing partner of Popovici & Asociatii (Popovici & Partners) value this segment at 100 million euros. Gheorghe Musat, managing partner of Musat & Asociatii thinks the market of legal services for companies stands at around 40 million euros, and Valeriu Stoica, senior partner of Stoica & Asociatii estimates it at 40 to 50 million euros.
