La Fantana, the biggest bottler of water for water coolers, intends to acquire a European company by the end of this year, with the bottler's target markets including Hungary, the Czech Republic, Greece, Ukraine and Bulgaria. "An expansion into other countries in the region is an extensive project and the first acquisition is expected to be completed by the end of this year. We are looking at the markets in Hungary, the Czech Republic, Greece, Ukraine and Bulgaria," stated Cristian Amza, minority shareholder and general manager of La Fantana. The company currently owns a plant in Serbia, which generated sales worth 2 million euros in the first six months of this year. The bottler saw a 38% sales increase in the first half of the year against the same time in 2006, to 10 million euros. The turnover seen on the Romanian market in the first six months of the year stood at 8 million euros, with the rest being derived from sales on the Serbian market.
