KFC and Pizza Hut expand to the provinces

12.07.2006, 19:02 14

The KFC and Pizza Hut chains will expand by another four units (two KFC restaurants and two Pizza Hut restaurants) to the provinces by the end of the year, Carmen Lupulet, marketing manager of the two companies that hold the brands, told ZF. The two brands have been brought to Romania as franchises, KFC by US Food Network, and Pizza Hut by American Restaurant System, both of which are part of the portfolio of the Altrom group, controlled by businessman Gabriel Popoviciu. The Pizza Hut brand entered the Romanian market in the 1994 - 1995 period. The new restaurants, one KFC and one Pizza Hut, will be located in Constanta and Ramnicu-Valcea, in malls, and will open by the end of the year. "We have to select every city we go to carefully, bearing in mind the population, the purchasing power in the area, and the location itself that needs to be in a central area or an area with lots of people. That is why we have opted for malls," says Carmen Lupulet.
