Chocolate producer Kandia-Excelent will acquire the sugar-based products division of Kraft Foods for a sum of up to ten million euros, with the funds being secured through a credit, according to an announcement made by the company. The assets taken over by the company from Kraft Foods consist of equipment, as well as sugar-based product brands. At the end of last year, Kraft Foods Romania announced it would sell its division of sugar-based products to Kandia-Excelent, the transaction including both stock and equipment involved in the business. Kraft Foods Romania will remain owner of the land and buildings where the plant making sugar-based products other than chocolate is located in Brasov. The personnel of the candy production facility will be transferred to another plant, which produces chocolate. Under the contract, Kraft Foods Romania will provide production and support services to the buyer during the transition period.
