HVB Leasing Romania expects a 57% increase in financing this year, up to 130 million euros, following the growth posted by the auto market and the company''s broader product portfolio.

"We have increased financing of real estate and equipment leasing, which, coupled with the auto market expansion, will enable us to post financing worth some 130-135 million euros," says Septimiu Postelnicu, general manager of HVB Leasing.

In the first ten months of the year, the company closed 7,000 new contracts worth 120 million euros. Car leasing accounted for 53% of financing, followed by real estate leasing and equipment leasing, with equal shares.

Real estate leasing financing has doubled this year, from 12 million euros last year to 25 million euros. Office buildings, logistics centres, commercial spaces and car showrooms were the main construction categories included in this type of contracts.

The company funded leasing contracts for municipalities worth 10 million euros in Bucharest and across the country, after winning tenders to supply them with cars, IT systems and other goods. The HVB Leasing believes that, this year, the Romanian leasing market will reach two billion euros and 2006 is set to bring a 25% increase.

"The leasing market may reach 2.5 billion euros next year, following the diversification of the real estate and equipment leasing and the debut of increasingly more companies on the operational leasing segment, once the market matures," Postelnicu says.

In 2006, HVB Leasing will introduce a new real estate leasing product in its portfolio - construction leasing. Under this new type of product, the leasing company is in charge with everything, from the building construction to maintenance, whereas the customer pays a fixed fee per square metre.

Moreover, the company is also preparing to launch an operational leasing product to offset the slower growth of the auto market, forecast for next year.
