Electrica, electricity distribution and supply company, registered a turnover worth 3.01bn RON (903m euros) in the first half of this year, up 6% against the same period last year. The company's gross consolidated income hit 140m RON (42m euros), 5% higher than the figure reported for the first six months of 2006, according to Mediafax. An important factor that helped Electrica turnover increase was the high energy consumption caused by this summer's very high temperatures. According to company data, the additional value collected by the four subsidiaries could exceed 30m euros just for the three summer months. These are consolidated figures and represent the cumulated performances of Electrica Transilvania Sud, Electrica Transilvania Nord, Electrica Muntenia Nord and Electrica Muntenia Sud subsidiaries. The company's representatives stated they expect turnover to amount to 6.4bn RON (1.88bn euros) by yearend, up 7% against last year's result.
