09.07.2007, 18:23 9

Friesland Foods, the leader of the domestic dairy market, posted the same profit in the first half of this year as in the corresponding period of 2006. "We have not seen our profit increase compared with last year due to the increase in the price of electricity and to the approximately 10% increase in the price of raw material (i.e. milk) in the first half of the year, compared with 2006," explained Gerbrand de Boer, general manager of Friesland Foods Romania. He did not reveal the exact value of the registered profit. Friesland posted a consolidated turnover worth 107.1 million euros last year, up 17% against the 2005, when its value stood at 91.1 million euros. The profit for 2006 has not been revealed. In 2006, the company logged a profit worth 9.4 million euros. Friesland saw a consolidated turnover worth 63 million euros in the first half of this year, up 16% on 2006. "The biggest sales were recorded for yoghurt, cheese, UHT milk and ice cream," specified Gerbrand de Boer.
