Former Cetelem boss takes the reins of McDonald's Romania

Daniel Boaje, 40, was appointed general manager of McDonald'sRomania fast-food restaurant chain, after Karen Bishop, who hadfilled this position since late 2009, was promoted tovice-president with McDonald's Canada.

Before this, Boaje had been the general manager of the biggestconsumer lending company, Cetelem for over five years (April2004-January 2010). He started his career with McDonald's in 1995,as a manager trainee. After leaving Cetelem, Boaje worked as anindependent Internet business consultant for five months, thenreturned to McDonald's as a development and operations manager.

The major moves inside McDonald's started as early as September2009, when Marian Alecu, former general manager of the company,which he had run for 12 years, decided to start his own business.

McDonald's, with 3,500 employees domestically, derived turnoverZF puts at 104.3m euros in 2009 and has a 63-restaurant network. Onthe fast-food market, valued at 1.5-2bn euros, KFC is McDonald'smain rival.
