Flamingo gives up Bulgarian branch and two local firms

11.10.2006, 18:15 11

IT&C retailer Flamingo International will give up its Bulgarian-based branch Flamingo Digital Shop, as well as Flamingo Software Ltd. in Iasi and Flamingo Networking&Communications in Otopeni, following a decision by the company's shareholders. The shareholders of the retail group have approved the dissolution or sale of the group's stakes in Flamingo Digital Shop, Flamingo Software and Flamingo Networking&Communications. They rejected the proposal to dissolve the branch in Serbia and Montenegro, though. "Flamingo currently owns two companies in Bulgaria and two in Serbia-Montenegro, which cover both distribution and retail. In Bulgaria we will give up our retail branch, while the branches in Serbia-Montenegro will merge," said the vice-president of Flamingo International, Dragos Simion. He added that the decision to dissolve or sell the branches is part of its strategy to reorganise and simplify the group's activities. The Flamingo International group is composed of three retail chains, Flanco, Flamingo and Future Shop, as well as the IT distribution company, Flamingo Distribution Center.
