The first meeting of the Fiscal Code took place yesterday at theFinance Ministry, where representatives of the businessenvironment, academic one and fiscal consultants discussed withministry experts on issues related to tax legislation and FiscalCode republication, scheduled for the end of this year.
"We talked on the Finance Ministry's strategy to cut red tape atthe legislative level, on the republication of the Fiscal Code andfiscal procedure Code, between which there also are someinconsistencies. We set a calendar, with monthly meetings. The nextmeeting will be in mid-March and until then we're waiting forsuggestions on the basic principles at the level of the two codes,"Dan Lazăr, a secretary of state with the Finance Ministry in chargewith tax policy, told ZF.
The Fiscal Code came into effect in early 2004 and has over timesuffered frequent changes, which are confusing the businessenvironment. Republication is highly important, having beenexpected for long and by everybody.
