13.11.2008, 19:09 12

German discount store network Lidl could open its first stores on the Romanian market in 2010, after completion of the company's logistic centre in Chiajna, near Bucharest. The construction of the storage centre is scheduled to start next year, and could extend over at least a year, according to representatives of the Euroholding group, one of the participants in the auction organised by Lidl with a view to selecting the constructor. The Chiajna location will accommodate the logistic centre and an office building dedicated exclusively to Lidl's operations, according to an announcement made by the retailer. Contacted by ZF, Lidl representatives only confirmed plans for the construction of the office building, specifying that the project would be started next year. They have not offered details on the network's expansion plans in Romania.
