Exports boost Adesgo profit

07.08.2003, 00:00 10

Bucharest-based stocking producer Adesgo posted some $3.5m turnover in the first half of the year, up at least 25% from the year-ago period, said the company's vice-president, Elena Ghiurutan. "People worked every single day. They have been working around the clock, especially because of the export orders. The plant was shut down for several months in 2000," Ghiurutan said. The export orders were almost four times higher this year, she added. "Results have met the original estimates, although we would have liked them to be higher, but sales went down 20% because of the heat wave in May, which was generally a peak time for sales," Adesgo's VP also said.
