Italian energy group Enel, owner of former energy transmission and supply companies Electrica Banat, Dobrogea and Muntenia Sud, has announced that it will allocate funds worth 700 million euros for network expansion over the next five years. "The investments scheduled for the next five years amount to around 700 million euros, and are part of Enel's investment plan for Romania, a plan that was announced and discussed last year with the Romanian regulatory authorities. The projects will mainly entail the introduction of advanced technologies, upgrading the electrical substations and replacing old equipment in order to bring the energy distribution network in line with European standards," said company representatives. Last year, after winning the privatisation process for Electrica Muntenia Sud, Enel announced a 2 billion-euro investment plan for the next fifteen years.
