Dracula moves to industrial park

28.10.2003, 00:00 6

After two years of wandering about the country, Dracula, the myth that was supposed to come to the rescue of the Romanian tourism industry, has found a place for its namesake park. The Dracula Park to be located in Snagov will, however, be developed as an industrial park requiring 40 to 70 million euros in investments, Sorin Marica, chairman of the Dracula Park SA Board of Directors at the end of last week announced. Whereas two years ago when the idea of such a project first came out, the entire construction was estimated to be finished in 2004, from where things stand now it looks like the construction works will not begin any sooner than next spring. And this will happen only if nothing goes wrong until then. Moreover, the development of the Dracula Park on the location in Snagov, as set in the memorandum originated by the minister for Co-ordinating the Government's Secretariat General Eugen Bejenariu and endorsed by the Government on Friday, will cost more than the $30-$31 million estimate the Tourism Ministry representatives had in mind two years ago.
