Businessman Daniel Guzu, who collected 20m euros from the saleof Fabryo paint producer to Oresa Ventures, a deal completed inlate 2008, says the current crisis has taught Romanianentrepreneurs to be more careful about the indebtedness level andcompanies' cash flow.
"We spent recklessly ahead of the crisis", confesses theentrepreneur who exited the paint and varnish business at a timewhen the market would grow by at least 20-30% annually, andinvestors' interest in the building sector was at itshighest.
Daniel Guzu, 41, currently controls Duraziv company, withoperations on the market of dry mortars, metallic trim and paint, which in 2009 posted 9m-euro turnover.
Guzu is now banking on the "small steps policy" in the case ofDuraziv, even though this means a lower market share and presenceon certain market niches. Duraziv's main clients are buildingmaterials warehouses.
After the first nine months, the company's sales were 45% higherthan in the same period of 2009.
"For the entire 2010, we expect a 50-60% advance, but it alldepends a lot on what we do in the last two months of the year, because we are taking about a weather-sensitive business. At anyrate, we want to grow further in 2011," Guzu said.
