Cotnari winemaker expects 30m-euro turnover this year

Wine producer Cotnari in Iasi forecasts sales worth 8 million euros in November-December of this year, accounting for 28% of the around 30 million-euro turnover. The end of the year is traditionally the best period for players in the wine industry. Cotnari expects a 10-15% rise during these months compared with the same time in 2007. "2008 was a good year, both in terms of wine production, and in terms of sales, with the wine market growing by around 11%, and Cotnari's turnover by 20%," said Catalin Grecu, Cotnari's marketing manager. Among the wines launched by Cotnari this year are Grasa de Cotnari 2005 (medium segment) and Tamaioasa Romaneasca 2005 (medium segment), Francusa 2008, Chateau, Blanc, Grasa de Cotnari (the last four on the on-premise segment).
