Contracts with Bosch and Dacia boost Sinterom business

17.05.2006, 00:00 11

Contracts signed by Bosch and Dacia Renault will this year bring Sinterom, a member of Serviciile Comerciale Romane (SCR) group of firms, a 33% increase in turnover against the figures posted last year, to 8 million euros (28 million RON).

"Exports to Bosch will remain our main catalyst for growth, not including deliveries to Dacia-Renault, which is the only important customer we have on the domestic market. The significant progress we are forecasting for this year is closely related to these collaborations," stated Marcel Leonte, general manager of Sinterom.

According to him, the company works with Dacia-Renault directly, as well as through intermediaries, and currently Sinterom delivers 10 products for the Logan model.

"These are synthesised parts, as well as parts that have been mechanically processed, and we are now about to start manufacturing two new products for engines," specified Leonte. He also said the company was in talks to develop other parts together with the Pitesti-based car maker.

"We hope the contract with Dacia-Renault will account for approximately 15% in our turnover by the end of this year," Sinterom''s manager stated.

Besides Bosch, the company also collaborates on the foreign market with the US firm Welles, Veha of Belgium, Danfoss of Slovenia and Poland''s Retting. The Cluj-based firm has earmarked investments worth 1.2 million RON (0.34 million euros) for this year, mainly targeting the reconditioning of the heating system, in order to cut down on energy costs.

The investment plan for 2005 was mainly aimed at technological development, with investments amounting to 1.6 million RON (0.46 million euros).

"We maintained our position on the market and managed to boost financial indicators on the basis of new products, whilst accelerating the pace of renewal. Thus, in 2005, we had approximately 208 new certified products that we started manufacturing, most of them being synthesised parts or ceramic parts," specified Marcel Leonte.

The company ended 2005 with turnover worth 6 million euros (21.8 million RON), down 7.5% from the value in RON of turnover for 2004 (23.5 million RON), and net income worth 0.41 million euros (1.5 million RON), which was lower than the level reached in 2004.
