Cobalcescu eyes Comat Auto

09.11.2005, 18:27 14

Auto Cobalcescu, one of the main taxicab operators in Bucharest, has put out a tender offer worth 3.4 million RON (0.92 million euros) to take over the controlling interests in Comat Auto, a Bucharest based company, which owns a large plot of land located in the western area of the capital. Auto Cobalcescu is offering 3.02 RON for each of the 1.13 million euro shares, accounting for a 66.8% stake in Comat. It already owns 17% in Comat, with another 16.3% held by Castrum Corporation, one of the companies in the Castrum Group, which comprises Auto Cobalcescu. Comat Auto sells automotive parts and components but derives the bulk of its revenues from rentals and services to customs brokers. There is a significant real estate element to this deal, given that Comat Auto owns a plot of land of more than 81,600 square metres, located in the outskirts of Bucharest close to the Bucharest-Pitesti highway, as well as several warehouses.
