Cluj-based Feleacul turns into real estate project

14.07.2006, 19:04 13

The Buzoianu brothers, owners of the Cluj-based sweets plant Feleacul, have announced that the plant will be moved to another location, and a real estate project worth 30 million euros will start on the site of the former plant. "We have opted for this solution because our production activity in the area does not comply with European standards. In addition to that, the plant's structure is old, and a reconstruction, which we would need to do in order to have competitive products, would cost us more than to relocate the plant," Octavian Buzoianu told ZF. The real estate project will include residential, office and retail spaces, covering a total surface area of 72,000 square metres and will be built on the current location of the Feleacul sweets plant, in the Marasti district. According to Octavian Buzoianu, the relocation of the Feleacul plant will cost some 2.5 million euros, and, for the time being, it has not been decided where the sweets plant will be relocated.
