Delta Distribution, the leading importer of ceramic tiles and sanitary ware on the Romanian market sold 14.7 million euros' worth in the first eight months, up 14% in euros from the same time last year. The results of the company practically confirm the fears of the main domestic producers of ceramic tiles, Sanex Cluj and Cesarom Bucharest, that the pressure of imports is rising on the Romanian market, where imports are already covering about half of the demand. "The faience and grit stone market has seen growth in 2003 compared with the same time last year. The main reason for this is the rebound of the real estate market, mainly because of the crediting systems, which consumers are more confidently using," Cristian Halmajan, Delta Distribution marketing manager, told Ziarul Financiar.
