Carrefour Chiajna ups Hyparlo results

01.04.2003, 00:00 6

Last year's over 100 million euro sales enabled the Carrefour hypermarket in Bucharest to contribute to the 45% growth in operating revenues and to the 55% growth in net profit posted by French Hyparlo Group. The group's turnover went up 4.3% to 1.1bn euro during the same period. "The number of visitors registered by the first hypermarket in Bucharest kept increasing, even beyond the initial estimates for the store in Chiajna," the representatives of Hyparlo, a company that holds a joint venture with the Carrefour Group in Romania, said. Under the circumstances, the French group decided to sell its business in Italy to focus on developing its operations in France and Romania. A new Carrefour unit is due for completion in the Orhideelor area this October, with the third set to open in Colentina in the first half next year. ZF
