BT Asigurari registered turnover worth 132.3m RON (almost 40m euros) in the first half of this year, up 44% against the first six months of last year. In the same period, claims settled by the company doubled and reached 76.6m RON (23m euros). "Our goal is to maintain our current position amid the rapidly tightening competition on the Romanian insurance market starting with the first months of this year," stated Constantin Jeican, chairman and general manager with BT Asigurari. General insurance accounts for 96.5% of the company's turnover, with gross underwritten premiums worth 127.7m RON (38.3m euros) in the first half. Car insurance weighs 77.3% in overall general insurance premiums, fire and natural disasters insurance accounts for 9%, while credit insurance holds 5%. On the segment of life insurance, the company registered gross premiums worth 4.6m RON (1.4m euros) in the first six months. BT Asigurari currently has 303 territorial branches, over 1,400 employees and almost 12,000 agents.
