BASF sales up 65% in 2005

24.02.2006, 21:33 10

Sales of the German chemical products group BASF in Romania, increased by over 61% last year from 246 million euros to 396.5 million euros, Andreas Meier, public relations manager of the Central Europe subsidiary, stated on Wednesday. "Romania is a key market and has seen the biggest growth among the countries in the region. We expect to register growth particularly on the segment of farming products and of plastics. As far as industrial products are concerned, we estimate to go as far as to double sales for 2006. This is due to the economic growth in Romania as well as to the special attention given by BASF to the Romanian market," Meier said. The range of BASF products for Romania has been broadened in the last few years and it targets the industries - from agriculture, pharmaceuticals and the cosmetic industry to the automotive industry and the constructions sector. The main clients are industrial ones. "Our target is to constantly increase our market share in Romania. Opportunities to grow are very big. The fact that more and more international companies invest here and some of our clients move their production facilities from Western Europe to Eastern Europe provides BASF with opportunities on the Romanian market," said Meier.
