AutoItalia, the local importer of Fiat, Alfa Romeo, Lancia, Maserati and Ssang Yong brands, sold 1,073 cars in July, an all-time high for the company's sales from its entry on the market 13 years ago, company representatives told ZF. AutoItalia sold 4,816 units in the first seven months of the year, an approximately 25% increase against the same period in 2005. The company's objective for this year is to sell over 8,000 cars. Fiat has remained the drive behind AutoItalia sales, accounting for about 90% of the total. The best selling model was Albea, with 1,390 units, followed by utility vehicles Doblo Cargo, with 849 units, and Ducato Furgone with 560 units. Other Fiat models that saw a significant growth are Panda with 429 units and Doblo Panorama with 319 units. On the segment of SUVs, AutoItalia is the importer of Korean manufacturer Ssang Yong, which posted an over 50% growth in sales thanks to the 161 units sold since the beginning of the year. AutoItalia sold 132 Alfa Romeo cars in the first seven months of the year, as well as 27 Lancias, a model that witnessed a significant increase, given that 40 units were sold in the whole of 2005.
