Atlassib, which is a part of the group by the same name, involved in international passenger transport, has posted business worth around 60 million euros (205.9 million RON) in the first three quarters of the year, up 9% in RON against the same period last year. The number of passengers rose at a higher rate than the company's revenues and reached 452,862 people after the first nine months of the year, up 25% against the first nine months of 2006. "There have been significant increases in the number of travellers and in the occupancy rate of vehicles, for routes to Spain, Italy and Germany, as well as to the UK and Greece," says Ilie Carabulea, the group's owner. He recently announced massive investments in hotels and real estate projects, as well as in an airline, for which he has already secured an operating licence. The success registered for destinations such as Spain and Italy has prompted company representatives to consider expanding these transport routes to new destinations, as well as setting up new routes from Romania to Ireland, Romania to Russia, as well as from Romania to the Republic of Moldova.
