Appetite for fast food drives Broaster Chicken into the black

Chirila Prod, which has held the master franchise of fast food network Broaster Chicken since 1999, posted turnover worth over 730,000 euros last year, up 42% compared with 2006. More importantly, the company turned a profit in 2007, after three consecutive years of losses that totalled 66.8 million euros. "The fast food market has developed a great deal lately. Before 2007 we saw losses, because we kept making new openings, and investments were not recouped. Furthermore, in 2004, after we opened two new restaurants, we were forced to close one, and lost everything. However, since last year, there has been a change. Sales have increased, the brand has become better known, and new franchisees have appeared," said Rozalia Kozmari, chief executive of Broaster Chicken. Currently, the company has three restaurants of its own in Bucuresti Mall, in Plaza Romania and in Unirea Shopping Center. In April, another opening is planned in the shopping centre due to open in the Titan district of Bucharest.
