Alpha Bank profit up 22% in H1

Alpha Bank Romania posted a net profit worth 15.1 million euros in the first six months of the year, a 22% increase against the similar period of last year, the lender announced on Friday. At the end of June, the bank held assets worth 1.7 billion euros, 810 million euros of which were credits granted to its clients, reads a release of the lender. According to bank representatives, Alpha Bank had a 4% share of the Romanian bank market at the end of the first six months of the year. On June 30, Alpha Bank had a 45-strong branch network all over the country and more than 1000 employees. According to the bank's development plans, the territorial network will reach 150 branches by the end of 2008. Alpha Bank Romania became operational in August 1994, being set up by Alpha Group Bank and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development under the name Banca Bucuresti.
