Suceava-based companies LaDorna Cheese and LaDorna Agri will invest approximately 4 million euros in building two cheese factories in Suceava County.
The projects of the two companies, worth two million euros each, will be 50% covered by non-repayable EU financing, following selection by the SAPARD Agency. The two factories will be located in Arini and Dorna Candrenilor communes.
The companies were established in September 2002 and applied for SAPARD funds to finance their operations. The majority shareholder of the two companies is LaDorna Group chairman Jean Valvis. LaDorna Cheese submitted a financing application in the same month it was established, while LaDorna Agri filed its application in October. The factories to be built are the first productive activity of the two entities, which have only invested in buying locations so far.
"The productive capacity of the factory in Arini will be 48,000 hl of milk processed a year. We will make a cottage-type diet cheese here, which will be sold on the domestic market and exported. We believe that demand from the European countries will be considerable, particularly because the entire investment will be assisted and controlled by EU experts. We will import the technology, which is yet another guarantee we'll comply with the European quality standards," Gheorghe Dromereschi, LaDorna Cheese general manager said.
LaDorna Agri general manager Adrian Ianovici in his turn said the output of the new factory would be in excess of 4 tonnes a day and the product (Philadelphia-type cheese spread) would be sold on both the Romanian and the Western market.
"Besides the two million euros mentioned in the project submitted to the SAPARD Agency, we will also spend another 100,000 euros to set up about 20 milk collection centres that can store up to 2,000 litres of milk each," Ianovici added.
