Zass Proteus refocuses on large stores

15.10.2008, 18:46 24

Electronics and home appliances retailer Zass Proteus, the fifth largest player on the market, plans to expand across Romania via large stores opened in shopping centres, after the company's development strategy has so far involved opening 40 small stores (150-400 square metres) in Transylvania, Oltenia and Muntenia regions. The first large store will be opened in the Galleria mall in Buzau, while the next large Zass stores will be located in two other projects developed by Globe Trade Center (GTC) and Aura Europe in Piatra-Neamt and Suceava, which are expected to open early next year. "We have so far sought to consolidate our business by first tapping into the counties' capitals and then in neighbouring cities, but a year and a half ago we put together a strategy that involved a more extensive store concept, in order to keep up with market development," said Gabriel Beregszaszy, general manager and majority shareholder of Timisoara-based Zass Proteus.
