Vincon, one of the leading wine producers on the Romanian market, posted sales worth 28.1 million euros in the first ten months of this year, up 23% against the same time in 2007. The company targets an around 40 million-euro turnover in 2008. "We are very likely to meet the 2008 budget. December is very important in achieving this target, a month that, unfortunately, is marked by the international financial crisis. For 2009, we aim to surpass the 40 million-euro mark," said Dan Ghejan, the company's marketing and sales manager. November and December, which traditionally generate the biggest sales in a year, fetch around 25% of Vincon's turnover. Apart from Vincon, producers that have announced their end-of-the-year sales forecasts include Cotnari and Jidvei. Cotnari expects to see sales worth over 8 million euros in November-December of this year, accounting for 28% of its around 30 million-euro turnover for the full year, while Jidvei hopes the holiday season will fetch it 12% of this year's budget. Vincon's best-selling brand in terms of value is Beciul Domnesc, while in terms of volume, it is Muscatel. Beciul Domnesc recorded a 40% rise in value in the first ten months of the year against the same time last year, to over 7 million euros.
