Sorin Ichim, marketing manager of wine maker Vincon Vrancea says Romania's accession to the European Union could create new export opportunities, given that currently, only 5% of the company's production goes to other markets. "Our new, internationally-renowned wines and brandies, will be a regular presence on the shelves. Aside from the curiosity induced by a new product, I foresee a return to strong Romanian brands," says Sorin Ichim. Vincon Vrancea currently operates some 2,150 hectares of grapes, located in the Panciu, Odobesti, Cotesti, Oltina, and Pietroasa vineyards, as well as in the Husi area. Overall, Vincon Vrancea ranks as the second largest wine producer in terms of the amount of land owned. In the first nine months of this year, the company posted a 23 million-euro turnover, 15% more than the same time last year.
