Vinarte seeks to buy new vineyards

30.08.2004, 00:00 7

Wine producer Vinarte Bucharest, owned by the Italian investor Fabio Albisetti, is in talks to acquire new vineyard areas, mindful of the situation within the EU, where grapevine planting is no longer possible, a situation that will also be registered in Romania after it joins the single European market. The EU has put a cap on planting so as to shun overproduction. The company currently owns 400 hectares of vineyard in Dealu Mare, Samburesti and Vanju Mare. "We want to buy new vineyards primarily because having new plantations will no longer be possible in the wake of EU integration and secondly because we plan to introduce new Romanian wines on the market. We want to focus more on Feteasca Alba, Francusa and Tamaioasa Romaneasca wines that can be found in the northern region of the country, as well as on southern red wines: Feteasca Neagra and Neagra de Dragasani," explains Fabio Albisetti. He says these are Romanian wines that need being promoted on foreign markets. ZF
