The value of deals conducted in Romania will exceed 13 billion dollars by 2012, whilst the 5% economic growth forecast for the next four years will contribute to an increase in the volume of mergers and acquisitions on the domestic market, Radu Stoicoviciu, partner with the consultancy services department of PricewaterhouseCoopers, said during the ZF Dinner Gala, which rewarded the best deals struck on the Romanian market over the past year. ZIARUL FINANCIAR organised its second ZF Dinner Gala, in partnership with law firm Wolf Theiss and PricewaterhouseCoopers consultancy company. The ZF Top Tranzactii (ZF Top Deals) yearbook was launched at the gala, which presents 113 deals, worth 6.5 billion euros. "Over the last three years, the deals have witnessed a fast-paced growth: from 42 deals worth 1.4 billion dollars in 2004, to 211 deals worth 8.4 billion dollars this year. For 2008, we estimate the value of deals on the domestic market will exceed 9 billion dollars," stated Radu Stoicoviciu. According to data centralised by ZF, most deals were concluded in real estate and constructions, which accounted for 34 in total. "Last year, 14 mega-deals were struck, each of which exceeded 100 million dollars, in particular in real estate. The average value of a transaction in 2008 is expected to reach 50 million dollars, up 10 million dollars on 2007," added the PricewaterhouseCoopers official.
