On February 1, Dragos Tanase, 35, relinquished his position as chief financial officer of UPC Romania. According to UPC officials, it was Tanase who decided to leave. "Dragos Tanase, Chief Financial Officer at UPC Romania left his position in the company on February 1, 2008. He worked for UPC Romania for 7 years, a time during which the company increased its client base from 300,000 to over 1,300,000," officials of UPC, the largest cable TV operator on the local market, told ZF. Company representatives did not provide any further details on the reasons behind Tanase's departure, and did not say who would take over his position. "One of the most important projects that Dragos Tanase coordinated was the integration of Astral Telecom into the company, following its takeover by UPC in the autumn of 2005. Displaying technical and managerial abilities, he succeeded in strengthening UPC's management team and in contributing to the company's development. UPC thanks Dragos Tanase for the value he added to the company, and wishes him the best of luck with the new professional challenges ahead," added the UPC officials.
