Tusnad mineral water bottler posts 5-10% higher sales

26.02.2009, 18:31 11

Bottler of Apemin Tusnad, one of the top ten players on the non-alcoholic drinks market, forecasts a sales volume increase by 5-10% this year, compared with 2008, in line with the advance of the mineral water segment forecast by the company. The company's business went up 14% last year against 2007, to 50.2 million RON (13.6 million euros), but the profit saw a decline against the value reported in the previous year, by almost 0.9 million euros. "The net profit went down as the company's investments in the previous year had an impact on the financial and accounting figures, as well as in the wake of economic turmoil," said Balazs Becsi Zsolt, general manager of Apemin Tusnad. The cost increases were felt last year especially in terms of instalments on bank loans and in terms of purchases of raw materials used for packaging, Balazs specified. Over the last two years, the company has invested around 7 million euros in new bottling lines, with part of the sum being attracted from banks.
