Turks expand surface of Bucuresti Mall

10.05.2006, 00:00 10

Bucuresti Mall, the first shopping centre of its type in Romania, will increase its amount of retail space in the wake of an investment estimated at 10 to 20 million euros, say sources on the market. Anchor Grup, the company, which owns the shopping centre, has already started work to expand the retail space of Bucuresti Mall by some 6,000 square metres, extending its current retail area by more than 20%. Anchor Grup officials did not wish to make any comment, but will organise a press conference in the middle of this week with "the expansion of Bucuresti Mall" as its subject. According to information on the market, the mall will expand to the plot of land located behind the shopping centre, where the car park now stands. The expansion will also include building an underground and an above ground car park, so that the number of parking spaces will not be reduced, but the land will be more efficiently used. Bucuresti Mall was the first shopping centre of this type, opened on the Romanian market in the autumn of 1999 following an investment worth over 35 million dollars. ZF
