Tiriac sells 70m euros' worth of cars in Cluj

Cluj-based RMB Inter-Auto, an authorised sales and servicing centre for Mercedes-Benz, Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, Smart, Ford, Hyundai and Mitsubishi, held by businessman Ion Tiriac, estimates a 70 million-euro turnover this year, up 75% on 2007. "The main factor behind this growth is the development plan, which includes investments in the city of Cluj-Napoca, and in other areas of Transylvania," said Ancuta Abrudan, manager at the communications and marketing department of RMB Inter-Agro. This year, the company has announced plans to invest 10 million euros in an automotive complex for the Ford and Hyundai brands, close to the Cluj-Napoca airport, which will stretch over an area of around 20,000 square metres. According to the representative of the Cluj-based company, the increase in demand for post-sale services on the segment of Mercedes-Benz trucks, RMB Inter-Agro intends to build a Truck Center on the outskirts of Cluj-Napoca, and to implement a fast service system in several towns in Cluj county, as well as neighbouring counties. "We estimate to deliver more than 2,800 cars in 2008, considering that Hyundai has entered our brand portfolio," specified RMB Inter-Agro's communication and marketing manager.
