Romstrade and Spedition UMB, held by businessmen Nelu Iordache and Dorinel Umbrarescu, remained among top providers of services to the state in 2008, the last year of PNL (National Liberal Party) governance, after winning contracts worth hundreds of million of euros with the Romanian state.

The ranking of the main winners of public contracts, sealed in the January 1st 2008 - January 29th 2009 period, is put together based on data reported by companies in the Electronic System of Public Acquisitions (SEAP). As of 2007, all institutions are required to give the name of the companies with whom they signed public acquisition contracts to the Agency for Information Society Services (ASSI)
The top ranking company - Romprest Service, which provides sanitation, cleaning, security, constructions-related and road maintenance services, won the sanitation contract with Bucharest's 1st district Town Hall. Sealed for a 15-year period, the contract amounts to 900 million RON (250 million euros) in overall sum.
The next players in the ranking - Romstrade Giurgiu and Spedition Bacau - operate in road infrastructure and ranked 2nd and 1st respectively a year before. In 2007, the bulk of revenues obtained by the two companies were derived from projects with the National Company of Motorways and National Roads (CNADNR).
