Terapia builds 38m-euro plant in Cluj

Terapia Ranbaxy drug producer, owned by India's Ranbaxy group,plans to start building a new drug production facility inCluj-Napoca in 2013, with investments amounting to 50m dollars(around 38m euros).
The greenfield project will be developed on a six hectare areaowned by the Cluj-based company and the construction of the plantwill last for around one year.
Terapia plans to start production in the new facility in 2014, sothat by late 2015 the company's production capacity should increaseby 50%.
The drugs to be manufactured in the new facility will be used forthe treatment of cancer, HIV-AIDS or cardiovascular illnesses.Also, the company plans to hire between 200 and 300 persons in thenext three years, to be added to the current 800.
"(...) Whereas at present we manufacture 2 billion packs of finiteproducts, in five years we want to reach a capacity of 3 billionpacks," Dragoş Damian, general manager of Ranbaxy Terapia, told ZFTransilvania.
He did not provide any additional information on the source offunds needed to carry out this project.
