Staer, a furniture producer and one of the most dynamic players on the market, registered a turnover worth over 12m euros in the first half of this year, up 40% on the same period in 2006, stated Vergiliu Vals, the company's general manager. He added that the income generated during the same period was also around 40% higher, but did not specify its value. "The turnover increase was due to stepped-up activities and a strengthened domestic business, as well as by our offer of several sought-after products and services," said Vals. The producer expects to derive a turnover above 30 million euros this year, up 35% against last year, when it derived 23 million euros, according to Finance Ministry data. As regards this year's investments, the company's officials did not reveal the budget earmarked, but stated that the capital would be spent on the expansion of the store network and the refurbishment of some existing stores, as well as the business's infrastructure through the acquisition of new equipment. The company operates 29 stores in 25 cities inn Romania, and plans to expand by opening other new stores within the next two years. This year, the company opened stores in Deva, Sibiu and Targu Mures.
