Signal Iduna fights for 20-30% of health insurance market

25.06.2008, 19:10 5

Signal Iduna, recently authorised by the Insurance Supervisory Commission, will start to sell policies in the fourth quarter of the year and plans to gain 20-30% of the health insurance market in the coming five years. "Private health insurance is still in a burgeoning state, but the market will definitely grow, especially as demand is increasing. Additionally, the public system can no longer take the pressure, so part of the expenses have to be shared by the private system," says Sanziana Maioreanu, Signal Iduna's new chief executive. After previously acting as development manager, Maioreanu, 39, was appointed as CEO last week replacing Sorina Niculescu. Signal Iduna intends to become the leader of the health insurance market and will compete with Interamerican, Aviva, Generali, AIG Life and Allianz-Tiriac.
