Selgros Cash & Carry network exceeded in 2008 the sales peak recorded in the winter holiday season of 2007, according to company data. "Sales in the December 22nd - December 28th period of 2008 went up over 10% against the same time in 2007. There are no major noticeable changes compared with the same period of 2007," said Pia Krauss, marketing manager of Selgros Cash & Carry Romania. She specified that the Christmas sales peak occurred before December 22nd in cash & carry stores. This store format targets professional customers, not end-users, with the main customer categories being resellers, hotels and restaurants. "During this period, our top-selling products are meat, confectionery products and drinks," Pia Krauss added. The Selgros network, held by German group Rewe, posted a 20% sales growth on the Romanian market in the first half of 2008 against the same time in 2007, according to previous data provided by the company representative.
