Seat: old and new Ibiza models both in demand

04.09.2008, 20:06 5

Bogdan Militaru, Seat brand manager at Porsche Romania, the largest automotive importer in terms of turnover, says the launch on the local market of the new Ibiza has not affected sales of the current model, which will continue to be sold. In July, the first month in which dealers of Porsche Romania, the Seat importer on the Romanian market, sold both generations of the Ibiza model in parallel, sales of the previous generation remained at the same level, 110 units, slightly up from the previous month, while the new Ibiza sold 53 units. "In terms of the trend of sales of the old Ibiza model and of the new Ibiza, there is a polarisation of demand. Those interested in a budget model choose an old Ibiza or a Cordoba, while those who want a new model choose a new Ibiza. We recorded steady volumes in June for the old model, whereas demand for the new one is on the rise. There was no sales decline for the old generation, to the benefit of the new one. The new Ibiza has been perceived on the market as an entirely new model, and not as a replacement for the old one," said Bogdan Militaru.
