Ramnicu-Valcea-based paints and varnish producer Sarcom plans to conduct investments worth 3 million euros next year, by opening a new paints and thinners production facility, as well as adding a thermal insulation material (expanded polystyrene) to its portfolio. "The main investment will go into building a new paints and thinners production facility, as well as automating the packaging process for all our products," said Marinica Potop, general manager of Sarcom. The company is considering opening a production facility to manufacture expanded polystyrene, with investments worth approximately 2 million euros. "In Romania, there are around 3 million blocks of flats, whose thermal insulation will have to be improved within the next few years," added Potop. At the beginning of last year, two investment funds and two strategic investors voiced their interest in acquiring the company. "We aborted talks with two of the investors, and rescheduled them for the beginning of next year, with the other two funds. Although the offers were very tempting and firm, we were not ready to sell yet (...)," said Potop.
