Romtelecom, the third leading telecom operator on the domestic market in terms of revenues, plans to open a new call-centre in Brasov this year and will hire 40 people to start with. The centre will help boost the company's share of the sales to business segment.
"The role of the staff at this call-centre will be to talk to clients, to propose our products and services, and to educate the market about what Romtelecom offers. For instance, clients will be called to be reminded that their contracts are about to expire and will be offered a renewal," George Makowski, chief commercial officer of the business segment, told ZF. "Romtelecom has invested 1 million euros in this call-centre and the number of employees could go up from 40 to 90," he added.
Makowski said that the establishment of such a call-centre is a first for Romtelecom and is part of the operator's efforts to build an efficient sales structure.
Romtelecom has established a separate business segment division, after a change in management. The operator has also set up call-centres for big clients and for SMEs.
"Only now can we say that we have the basis for a sales channel," Makowski says, a year after the business clients division conducted significant recruitments and created a network of dealers countrywide for the first time.
"Within three or four months we managed to create this dealer network and week after week we are seeing sales on this channel rise. Dealers are very important to us, because they can help with installation operations; they keep in touch with customers. This is a very important sales channel," Romtelecom's official said.
Makowski added that the changes in Romtelecom's structure are reflected in the results. As an example, he cites the doubling in the number of business clients for Clicknet Internet services from 50,000 a year ago to 100,000.
