Romanian clothing manufacturer to outsource work to India

13.09.2006, 19:26 11

A Romanian clothing manufacturer is seeking to increase its profitability by relocating production to India. Roxana Cojocaru, owner of the clothing manufacturer Scarlett Clothing, who, having worked for a long time under contract for companies such as Etam, Dorothy Perkins, C&A, Naf Naf and H&M, decided to give up working under contract and create her own brand, Tara, choosing to relocate production in the process. "I am thinking about starting clothing production in India because it is still an expanding market. There are not so many competitors there and they are by all means fewer than in China. What makes the Indian workforce so special is their productivity and the respect they have for their job; as for the wages, they stand at 50 to 60 dollars a month. The advantage is that you have the fabric there and you don't have to go through a four-week struggle to bring it in by sea,' explains Cojocaru.
